A Last and a First

Wednesday was Kaelyn's last day of Kindergarten. We had lunch with her in the courtyard and afterward her teacher, miss Elmore, handed out certificates to each of the children. Kaelyn was nicknamed 'miss best speller of the class'. She likes to correct everyone's spelling, even the teacher's and her parents. Anyway, the teacher had come up with something cute for everyone. One of the moms had made a slide show of the school year (parties and field trips) and we watched that. There were some amazing pictures of Kaelyn on it. I kind of felt like I've been out of it all year. A lot of the moms knew each other because they had been volunteering in the classroom. I guess with two younger kids at home that wouldn't really have worked out for me. Maybe next year when Ian is in pre-K...
I got a picture of Kaelyn and her teacher and also one of her and her best buddy, Robby (who is moving next week). Yesterday she got to go to Robby's birthday party. It was a bowling party and she had a great time.

Wednesday evening was her first swim meet. She swam in two events for the 6 and unders; 25 meter freestyle and 25 meter backstroke. She didn't do all that great, but I was just happy that she made it to the other side of the pool both times. Backstroke ended up being kind of a zigzag, swimming into one line and then the other. I'm proud of her for doing it though and hope she will improve.

Wow! I think it is absolutely amazing that she can make it across the length of the pool - even zig-zagging her way down there. Seriously! None of my kids can swim yet (we've done swim lessons once) because they don't have any time in a pool (maybe once a year). So YEAH for you and yeah for Kaelyn! You guys rock!

Good job Kaelyn! I remember that I made a mistake on purpose in a spelling test at school, because it was no fun never making a mistake.
