Let's party!

It was more than a week till Ian's birthday, but with soccer and T-ball games starting up the next week, we had the party early. The theme was Star Wars. To my surprise, everyone invited actually made it. We had a lot of kids at the house and probably not enough activities. We started out throwing popsicle stick bombs at enemy ships (big plastic tubs with pictures on them). We learned how to make them on YouTube:

Most of ours didn't explode. Next was 'stick  the buttons on Darth Vader'. Some of the boys must have been cheating, because they got them exactly in the right spot, even with a blindfold and a couple of turns.

We had made some light sabers out of plumbing insulation and masking/duct tape. Unfortunately our backyard was full of puddles, but we braved it and had the kids destroy some bubbles with their weapons. Then we had cake and ice cream and afterwards the pinata. It was Darth Vader's head, full of candy. It's amazing how fast kids can run, shove and claim their candy. Since the light sabers didn't work, we had the kids pull strings to open the pinata.
Ian was very happy with all the awesome gifts he got.

Dat klinkt als een gezellig partijtje. Jammer dat ik er niet bij kon zijn...
