Dancing Queen

I'm so behind on my blog... we've had sick kids all week and I've been exhausted. Anyway, a little over a week ago, our friend Maya turned 5 and we were invited to her fantastic birthday party. We got to swim in her pool and then ate pizza and cake. After that, the boys left and the girls had a 'beauty salon makeover'. First, all the girls dressed up and then they got their hair and make-up done (or actually they did their own make-up). Oh, and they got their nails painted. Kaelyn loved it of course. One of Maya's cousins put French braids in her hair. She was dressed up like a glamorous movie star. Annika switched outfits a few times and loved getting her nails painted and she also looooves lip gloss.

Then they put on a show which turned into a dance-off. It was so hilarious to watch Annika. Once she comes out of her shell she is a great performer and absolutely too cute! At the end, glow-in-the-dark bracelets or glow sticks were handed out and the lights dimmed. Then the Star Wars theme music came on and 'light sabers' were dancing around the room. We stayed pretty late (it was a sleepover, but we didn't spend the night). On the way home, Kaelyn sighed 'this was the best day ever.'

This is my favorite of Annika's dance moves:

Who knows, maybe Annika will have a ballet career and will dance in Swan Lake...
