Kites and Tree Houses

On Labor Day, we went to the Botanical Garden. I had seen in the newspaper that they were opening a new tree house exhibit over the weekend with lots of activities for kids. It was fun, they had 9 tree houses (none of them were up in a tree though). One was built like the magic tree house (from the books), they had one with a sandbox, one was Feng Shui and they had a Flower Fort (built like the inside of a flower).

One of the activities was kite making, out of newspaper. Then the kids got to fly their kites on the adjacent field. They did pretty well, although there wasn't a lot of wind.

After a little while it just got too hot and the heat wears you out. We filled out the questions about the tree houses and each child got a prize for handing theirs in to the gift shop.

Nate caught up with the yard work and took the kids for a swim while I tried my hand at making falafel. It turned out really yummy. Annika kept asking for more and even Kaelyn said she liked it. Ian didn't really care for it, but he's a really picky eater. Next time I'm going to try the bake/broil method instead of frying.

This is the kids new 'private' club house they built in their bedroom this weekend.
