Kaelyn gets Knighted

Last week, I got a phone call from Kaelyn's school. Usually that means she's in the nurse's office for something or other, but they reassured me that this call was about something much more exciting. She was to receive a 'Knights of the Guild' award. This website explains what it's all about: http://www.knightlife.net/. At the beginning of the school year, the kids got to watch some kind of tournament and the program is designed to encourage respectful and overall good behavior. Every month, they have a knighting ceremony at the school and a few kids of each class get 'knighted' and receive a medal. Kaelyn had just told me about this a little while ago. Her best friend, Robby, had gotten a medal and she really was hoping she would get one too. I had the privilege of attending her knighting ceremony yesterday. It was really cute. The teachers had written a paragraph to explain why the kids deserved to get the award. They had a lady dressed in armor (Lady Amber) hang the medals around the kids necks. It was the last ceremony of the year.

When I picked her up after school, I asked her how her day was. Her reply: "It was the best day in school ever. I won musical chairs, got a medal and had two recesses."

Ian didn't have a bad day either. He had his last preschool day. Afterwards, they had a little party at McDonald's. He's had so much fun with his friends. They made an 'All about Me' book and got a graduation certificate. I was kind of put in charge and I'm glad it's over with.

I think I'm all caught up for the week... phew...

Lieve Deb,
