Kaelyn had a piano recital on Monday. She's been taking piano lessons from our wonderful neighbor for 1 1/2 years now and this was her 3rd recital. It's amazing how much she's learned during that time. The theme was Ragtime and Kaelyn played 'Downright Happy Rag' by Martha Mier, or at least part of it. In the weeks before the recital, her motivation to practice was stickers! For every 3 times she practiced, she got to put a star sticker on the page. She collected 30 star stickers! It shouldn't have been a surprise when we were at a friend's house for dinner and she started to play from memory.
At her rehearsal, a week or so earlier, Kaelyn asked me where all the people were. I told her they all had their own time slot to practice. After she played her song, she asked her teacher if she could wait for the other people to come. She replied that maybe they were running late. Kaelyn asked if she could play it again. Sure she could. Finally I made her leave. I don't know if she was thinking this was supposed to be the real recital, but she would have loved to have a bigger audience.
The recital was at the church and she did a good job. Here's a video of her performance:

Great job, Kaelyn! How old is she? She sounds great! I also love her enthusiasm for performing. That's notable and will be a strength to her!
