The Easter Bunny and other Adventures

This past week was Spring Break for Kaelyn and it's been a crazy week (for me at least). It's hard when you're not on a schedule. The kids got to ride their bikes a few times and we went swimming at the gym's indoor pool once. On Thursday, I dragged all 3 kids all the way to Houston (a 3-hour drive each way) to renew my passport at the Netherlands Consulate. Luckily it was only a few miles away from Ikea and on the way back I let the kids play there and we had lunch. I was amazed how well they all did on the trip. Annika slept half the time and thank heavens for portable DVD players!

Yesterday, Nate finished painting the fireplace and the living room looks great! He's retextured and painted the ceiling, painted the walls and trim and the fireplace all in a matter of weeks.

The end of last month, I had set a goal to sew Easter dresses for Kaelyn and Annika. I had no idea that Easter would be so early this year! I traced and cut the patterns a while ago. Last week I cut the fabric and yesterday I spent all day sewing the dresses together. It was fun, but I don't have a lot of sewing experience, so it took a looooong time. There's also a second part to the dress that I didn't even start. It's a pinafore to be worn over the under dress, but the dress works just great without it! I still want to make them, but that will have to wait. I was very happy with the result. The girls looked very cute today. Here are some pictures. Kaelyn chose the fabric. It's light pink with tiny tulips and butterflies. Annika has a carpet burn on her forehead from being dragged across the floor by a sibling.

This morning, Kaelyn was incredibly excited to go outside to see what the Easter Bunny had left in our backyard. Yesterday, we tried to make it to a local grocery store for their annual easter egg hunt at 9 am. We were 15 minutes late and were only able to find two eggs. Kaelyn was incredibly disappointed. She had looked forward to this event all week. She was so upset, she even scowled at the Easter Bunny when he (or she???) waved at her. There was cake and icecream afterward, but that didn't help. This morning she had a better experience and found most of the hidden candy.

Hoi Deb,

hey Debbie,
those dresses are really cute. It's great to have similar dresses when you are sisters (at a young age at least).
The living room looks great, it looks like a lot of work.
Our second day of Easter started out white again. I never dreamed of a white Easter..
love, Susan

What cute Easter girls! And Nate did a great painting job. Both projects are a lot of work. You are both so talented.
