Play Ball!

Ian had his first T-Ball game last night. On the way to the park, he almost fell asleep in the van. He was so tired (no naps that day). As soon as we got there, Ian was greeted by his team mates who immediately started to chase him. I think Ian liked it, because he started to smile and looked a little more awake. They played the Angels team, which coincidentally also wore red shirts. It was confusing for all players to be wearing the same color shirts, but it made for an entertaining game. I'm not really used to having kids involved in sports yet. I never really played any sports while in school, so this is a totally new experience for me. And of course Texans are really into sports.

Ian hit his first ball and just stood there until coach Riley gave him a push and told him to hustle to first base. Ian proceeded to run in slow motion and got tagged by one of the Angels. The second time he actually made it (barely) to first base. He is usually a pretty fast runner, but apparently not with so many other kids around. Before the game started, he ran with the other team to their dugout. It took me a few minutes to convince him he was supposed to go to the other dugout with his own team. While in the field, he didn't really seem to pay attention. One time, a runner from the other team got the ball and threw it. The crowd was very entertained by this. Sometimes there were two runners on the same base, but it really didn't matter. These little kids are just learning the game and having fun. Ian got the ball one time and threw it to the pitcher. He does pretty well for being the youngest player. I'm proud of him! And I think he had a good time too.

Annika found a little friend. Brielle is the youngest daughter of the team mom. They rolled around on the concrete and played with dirt and rocks together. Kaelyn made a little movie of them.
