Spelling and a Big Girl

This morning I picked Ian up from pre-K and he asked if he could watch cartoons when he got home. I told him that was probably not a good idea and he could play or think of something else to do. He complained a little and then mentioned that Kaelyn is always reading books and I told him he could learn how to read too. He said: "Reading's boring."
"But when you learn how to read, you can read your own stories and learn all kinds of fun stuff."
"I already know how to read two words!"
"Really? What words can you read?"
"Um... 'go' and 'stop'."
"How do you spell 'go'?"
"It has an O in it."
"And what else?"
"A G."
"Which letter is first, the G or the O?"
"The G."
"That's right, now how do you spell 'stop'?"
"Um... I think we should go on a bike ride some time and I can bring some paper and a crayon and when we get to a stop sign I can write the word 'stop'."
That's my creative thinker!
The kids never cease to amaze me. Annika started asking 'why' questions and she 's only 2! She also has been wearing big girl underwear this week and has managed to stay dry (pretty much), even at night! I just hope it stays that way... This little girl seems so mature sometimes. On Sunday she put her sandals on all by herself and her new favorite phrase is 'I do it myself'.

Wow, that's every mother's dream to have a child that is so independent and wants to potty train! Way to go Debbie!

What cute pictures. How much longer do you have until Nate gets home? You are doing great and keeping the kids busy it sounds like. I love Kaelyn's posts! Tell her hello from us. Jodie
