To be a kid

We've all kind of been under the weather this week. There's a nasty cold going through our house and it's wiped me out.
A few evenings ago I asked Ian why he hadn't put his pajamas on yet. I had asked him several times to get ready for bed. I was definitely not prepared for his response: 'Don't ask me ever, ever again! I hate you! I quit!' I've heard the first two statements before, but 'I quit?' I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I know Ian would really like to be bigger and must be tired of his job as a kid. It's tough, I know... your mom interrupts you play all the time because you have to go somewhere or it's bedtime, you never get what you want when you want it, you have to do things you don't want to...
The other big surprise of the week was Annika sleeping in her own bed all night for a change. It only happened once, but it was great to not have to get up for one entire night and to wake up in the morning without any kids in the bed. Wow! I had forgotten what that was like!

Hooray for Annika! I hope that staying in her own bed is the beginning of a trend.
Ian is so funny. I was holding Mitchell on my lap the other day (restraining him) when he told me that I was "squeezing his blue blood". Kids are very entertaining.
